Alrighty ya’ll… I was a little scared, but I got on the scales this morning and I managed to only gain back .4 pounds over my crazy week of VBS and cakes! I cannot tell you how thrilled I was to see 214.6 this morning!! I (almost) maintained my previous week’s weight loss!!
I was super-duper excited!!!
And then my day started and the rest of it was questionable. On one hand, IF, and that’s a big IF, my Fitbit and calorie-guessing is correct (‘ll explain below), I’m still under goal for today.
On the other hand, I ate horribly and had to guess on some of the calories and I’m never sure how much to rely on “extra activity” calories earned.
Let me explain…
First, I had to get up extra early to take my baby boy to the dentist. That meant I ate breakfast extra early… which meant I had a second breakfast later (at a more normal time for me). Ugh. And that second breakfast?? It was a doozy!
Breakfast #1: KIND Bar (200 cal)
Breakfast #2: Small Vanilla Milkshake and Small Chili Cheese Tater Tots from Sonic. (777 calories)
I know, I know… what was I thinking?? Well, my little boy could only have liquids after his dental appointment and the hygienist recommended something cold. He had been asking for chocolate milk, so I thought I’d up his treat to a chocolate milkshake.
That was a bad idea. Once I was there, I knew I wanted one of my most favorite things in the world… Chili Cheese Tator Tots and a Vanilla milkshake. I did order small (which I used to never do) and I didn’t eat the whipped cream and cherry on top, but it was still a whopping 777 calories. Ouch.
Because of the huge calorie count of my second breakfast around 10am, I decided to try to skip lunch. Instead, mid-afternoon I had a snack:
Snack: Nectarine (62 cal) and a stick of Light String Cheese (50 cal)
And then, to try and gain some calories back, I got on my brand new-to-me recumbent bicycle and rode it for 20 minutes. I’m hoping this thing will be $50 well spent! According to MyFitnessPal, that earned me back 178 calories. Woot! Woot!
And then (again) … I was shocked to see that all of my walking around Walmart and cleaning house today had earned me another 297 calorie adjustment. I’m not sure what to think about that.
You see, a few days ago I connected my MyFitnessPal account to my Fitbit account and it adusts my allowed calories based on my activity. I’ve only had it set up for a few days and I’m afraid to trust it. What if I eat that 297 calories and I didn’t really burn that much and I stop losing!!?! I’m afraid.
But fear or no fear, I decided to go with it today and see how it looks on the scale tomorrow. So I ate a “normal” supper because according to my tracker, I had 786 calories available. That just seemed wrong.
Either way, I did some guesswork on the calories for supper because I didn’t weigh/measure anything and my husband made oven-fried chicken and mashed potatoes and green beans and he did it all without recipes…
Supper: Oven fried chicken (261 cal), Mashed Potatoes (280 cal), Steamed Green Beans (258 cal)
and as I sit here tonight, MyFitnessPal says I still have 220 calories I could eat if I wanted. I probably won’t, but I’ll let you know tomorrow how it goes! 🙂
Until then, goodnight!
