My morning started around 9:15am with a nearby neighbor calling and asking for a ride to church. I had been awake a few minutes earlier when Richy left for band practice with a couple of the kids, but had nodded off again.
So, I went ahead and got up and got ready to go. There were three kids left at home to ride with me so I made sure they were also up and getting ready. By 9:40am, we were headed out the door to pick up the neighbor and get to Sunday school.
It was a beautiful, clear blue sky kind of day… cool and a little breeze blowing… perfect!!
Sunday School was at 10am, then church at 11am. Our pastor and his family were out of town on vacation but the worship service and sermon were great nonetheless and I really was blessed to be there.
After church we had to hurry home so Richy could get ready for work – I made him a lunch (I had cooked a roast in the crock pot all night, so I mixed it with BBQ sauce and wrapped up some buns for him).
Then when we got Richy out the door to work, the rest of us decided to go out to eat Mexican with the rest of my family…
We were missing my hubby and one of my brothers and his family (they were on vacation too… my brother is married to our pastor’s daughter and they all went on a big family vacation). When we all get together there are 23 of us. Today there were only 19 (including my Aunt Lou), so we had a “short” table… hahahaha! Not really. (pics are from each end of the really long table)
While we waited for our food, Asher and I played on the phone… he really really wanted a picture of me and him together – he even said “cheese” for the pic!!
By the way – I ordered a Shrimp Quesadilla with rice and beans and a salad and sour cream and pico de gallo … but that is not what I got. Whatever it was, it looked good, but it had shrimp and a spicy sausage and some sort of red sauce and not nearly enough cheese and no sour cream and no salad or pico de gallo. I was sad.
I ate it (because I was HONgry and not in the mood to wait for more food), but bleh… I was quite disappointed! Sadly, my sister also ordered a Shrimp Quesadilla and she also got this.
After eating, I took my clan to Walmart. Well, actually, I took them to the Walmart parking lot where they stayed in the truck and watched a movie – I went in and got all of my cake ingredients shopping done for the week (no worries – my oldest is 17 and he kept the truck cranked the whole time and he had a phone and we were in a pretty safe city in the middle of the day).
They were happy and I was able to shop without 6 kids asking for things they didn’t need, putting things in the buggy that weren’t on the list and just in general… slowing me down.
Around 4pm I was done shopping and we were on our way home. Before we actually made it to our house, I stopped at my sister’s house to let 2 kids go potty. Granted we were just a couple of minutes from home, but they had to go!
We ended up riding over to her house site and walking through the house they’re building (this was my first time to go inside although I’ve been watching the progress from the outside).
Then we ended up going visiting for awhile. I can’t tell you the last time we sat down, face-to-face and just talked (although we did talk on the phone a long time the other night)… and it was good.
Around 6pm, I made the short drive on to my house… with NINE kids (my 6 plus her 3). My boys were dying to let their cousins come play the new Wii U, so I told them it was fine if they came over to the house for awhile.
We got home, unloaded groceries and they played! I shredded the rest of the roast and made up some BBQ for sandwiches for supper and cleaned up the kitchen a little. After my sister got her hay put out, she came on over and hung out with us. Around 8:15, she headed back to her house and I started getting my kiddos ready to settle down for bed.
Then I sat down and started checking email and blogging. I wrote a post over at RoseBakes.com and now, at 10:25pm, I’m finishing up my post here. Like last night, I’m probably about to find something to watch on TV or read a book and wait for the hubby to get home.
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!! 🙂
