It’s Wednesday and I’m dropping in for 2 seconds to tell you what I spent today… day 10 of the Grocery No-Spend Challenge February 2016.
It’s funny… I didn’t mean to spend today but I completely forgot about my Amazon Subscribe & Save items that were shipping out and I was charged for them today… a case of canned tomatoes and big box of dishwasher tabs.
Anyway, for supper tonight we’ll be having Cream Cheese Potato Soup with Sausage. I mentioned yesterday that we have lots and lots of sausage in our freezer. We also had about 5 pounds of potatoes on the edge of spoiling (hello… they were sprouting!) so I combined the two to make soup. I’m trying really hard to use up things and not waste.
I’m not making as big of a dent in our freezer as I’d hoped – which is largely due to Richy working so much and we’ve been doing more easy meals and we’ve eaten out a couple of times that we normally wouldn’t have. But progress is progress, no matter how small, right?
So that’s all I’ve got. Total spending day 10: $25.67
Total for February so far: $206 (8 gallons of milk so far)*
*Recently someone asked me how much milk a family of 8 drank and I guessed 6-8 gallons a week. I thought it would be fun to track it this much and see how much we actually use!
